IRS Complaints

Complaints against the IRS?

Are you having a problem with an IRS employee?  You report them to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration or (TIGTA). You can also report them to the Taxpayer Advocate.

Do you have a complaint against a tax return preparer? You can file a complaint with the IRS directly us the following link:  IRS Complaint

If your tax preparer has done any of the following, you can report them to the IRS:
  • Embezzling your refund.
  • Altering your tax return documents.
  • Filing a return without your consent.
  • Creating or omitting income to generate a larger refund.
  • Creating false exemptions or dependents to generate a larger refund.
  • Creating false expenses, deductions or credits to generate a larger refund.
  • Using an incorrect filing status to generate a larger refund.

You can use Form 14157 which can be found at IRS.gov. Look in the forms cabinet.
